The story

In the early 1950’s, Count Stefano Rivetti of Piedmonte discovered the fascinating beauty and untapped potential of Fiumicello, a stunning coastline in Maratea. It was here that the Count’s visionary tourism project took root. In 1953, he built the Santavenere as a private home on the forested hills overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and hosted many of the most famous celebrities of the time including Sophia Loren and the Prince and Princess Alberto. Years later Santavenere transitioned to a hotel but kept the same innate warm hospitality of staying in a private home offering a quiet and serene escape for guests.
